Nuffield Farming Annual Dinner 2017

This year Nuffield Farming are pleased to announce that the after dinner speaker will be we Rupert Cox, Chief Executive of the Bath and West Society.

Rupert Cox was appointed Chief Executive of the Royal Bath & West of England Society in January 2015 with the mandate to make the Society more efficient and financially more resilient.

Rupert was
a sheep farmer until 2000 when he took a new career path into business support and business membership organisations that took him to the position of Chief Executive of the Somerset Chamber of Commerce, so the role at the Bath & West takes back towards his farming and rural roots.

He has ambitions for the Society to be at the hub of rural influence in the area and to remind the Society of its charitable objectives of encouraging agriculture, manufacture, commerce and rural crafts through education and knowledge transfer. In 2016 the prestigious Royal Bath & West Show welcomed over 137,000 visitors to England’s last 4-day Royal Show that enjoyed increased agricultural activity with more livestock and machinery, an increased focus on local food, the introduction of an entertainment Big Top showcasing new young musicians, while established events such as the British Cheese Awards and British Cider Championships give credence to the Show’s reputation as an event of national significance.

Rupert is married to farmer’s daughter Angie and they have two adult children and one grandchild. In his spare time he enjoys playing and watching cricket, follows most other sports from his armchair, is an active Rotarian and is in his element cooking breakfasts for Bed & Breakfast guests.
